Week of Jan 21, 2013

This week we continued OOP presentations and learned about supers, parent classes and how they related to other programs. We also started talking about inheritance and how that relates to everything, about how a brand has certain models and different cars that branch out, but still have properties of the original (parent). This week we also started looking at the Pong lab that we will be working on for a while. I've talked to friends who've taken the class previosuly and they say that the lab is pretty challenging yet fun. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up and start making this lab sometime soon. Good luck to us.

Week of January 14

This week we continued learning about Array Lists. We learned new concepts of OOP, and how to arrange, sort and store data sets of array lists. This week we were assigned 3  labs: Word, Words, and Monster.
My partner and I started working on Word, and Monster. We managed to finish both but were not able to complete Words. The worksheets this week were harder than before, but I was able to wrap my head around them. I'm going to start coming in ~1/week to get some 1on1 time with the teacher or the student teacher to get a better grasp on the material that has been swimming in clumps around in my head for a long time. #Clarity

Week of January 7

This week we came back from winter break and we immediately started learning new material. This week we started learning about ArrayLists and how to manipulate them. They're kind of like normal Arrays but you can arrange them in different ways, and instead of length, they are in size. Adding, clearing, and replacing different values in Array Lists are more unique then the Arrays that we had been going over before the winter break. We didn't really remember anything from before the break so it took a while getting back what little I had remembere from before the break...
I had tried to switch out of this class because it was becoming more and more of a challenge. The counselors didn't let me switch down though. oh well! I'll try to make the best of my situation..
